Phani Siddha
@ Super Sixty IAS Academy

plz see the following which may  be useful topics for essays..
similarly u may frame some based on current issues in india.
.. but students should be ready to write impromptu also..

1. fourth estate (Media): Role, Responsibility & Sensationalism. Is it missing human touch?
2. India's desire to become a perm member of UNSC. Prospects/Possibilities & illusions.
3. Importance of Regional Groupings in the Transformation of the world.
4. Crisis of Ethics in Indian Political sys and public life.
5. Debate in India on the reservations to be based on economic criteria.

my best wishes to all youngsters preparing for the Mains Assault..

there may be some debates in India which may be controversial from some
viewpoints e.g discussion on intolerance, reservations etc.. Civils Aspirants,
i suggest, be balanced in their judgement rather than take extreme views..
and focus on how do we amicably resolve issues  that we face in India

Problem Scoring in Mains -- GS PAPER I, 2, 3

Dear sir,
Please send across the books list for Mains as scores were down. Thanks a lot for all the help extended.

-RK-

as i see from ur book list it is all standard text books ..

the problem/issues with the exams then  seem to be
either

1)  internalisation of content which was good otherwise u could not
answer well during interviews we conducted

2) writing practice..

3) you have to check question papers once again and see
what Qns you were able to answer and what Qns u have left off
without attempting.. unable to answer.. TOTAL MARKS LEFT OFF IN EACH PAPER...
this wil give u an idea of
the mains areas which u need to REFOCUS..

when time permits u pick a difficult question ONE EACH from each of
the papers and send me answers as u have written in ;the exams..

4)how do u rate ur handwriting for being legible??? scan and send the hand written ans

one of these may be ur problem or else we may have to seek re-evaluation of ur papers

Government Policies - A debate pro govt

              Phani Siddha
@ Super Sixty IAS Academy

                   Hyd

Dear Sir,

This is Harsh, your student.

This is following today's discussion in the class about how government is almost always in a fix with respect to the policies it has to make, even if it has the best intentions of the people in mind.

The problem arises because in a country as diverse as India, there are always opposing requirements among its people at any given time. Due to limited resources, the govt has to take the middle path in order to pacify the people. This leads to slow down of progress, if at all any.

In a country like India, or any country for that matter, the solution for any widespread problem has to come from the people only. Only when people realize that large scale development requires some discomforts on smaller scales and agree to put up with it for the greater good can such a change be brought about. No government policy can bring about such a change.

A country is only as good as its people. However good/far sighted the government may be, if the people are not on the same page, it will not work. The problem can only be solved if a large section of people can keep the greater good ahead of their own interests. It has happened before in India - during the freedom struggle. Our country needs another such revolution. Only this time the enemy would be within. If and when a leader emerges who can make people keep the larger interests above their personal interests, such a leader can bring about the change that we are all looking for.

Harsh
