Reliance Power commenced generation from the first 300-MW unit of phase II of its Rosa project in Uttar Pradesh. The phase II comprises two units of 300 MW each
1,200 MW Rosa project will add to the Central Government's XI Plan target for capacity addition and set the foundation for the next phase of growth for the company.
The Rosa project, with total capacity of 1,200 MW will meet 15 per cent of Uttar Pradesh's power requirement and will light up as many as 30-lakh households in the power starved State.
The project represents the largest private sector investment in Uttar Pradesh with an investment outlay of over Rs.6,000 crore.
It is the first new thermal power project to be set up in the State in 20 years and is also the first independent thermal power project in the North to be brought online.
